Will performance of Thunderbolt 3 be affected by cable length? Is there a difference in speed when using different lengths of Thunderbolt 3 cables?

At this moment Thunderbolt 3 cables have maximum length of 2m. Maximum 40Gbps bandwidth can be reached with 0.5m cables only. Longer cables (1m and 2m) will provide a maximum of 20Gbps throughput.

In the future we expect active Thunderbolt 3 cables with support of 40Gbps bandwidth at lengths of up to 2m and Optical cables with lengths of up to 60m.
